Nuno Cera presents in Torrão, N2, a project developed by the artist in collaboration with O mais comprido museu do mundo (The Longest Museum in the World), Pedro Campos Costa, and Eduardo Costa Pinto.

Through his lens, you can view one of the segments of the Estrada Nacional 2 (which also intersects with Torrão), between Montemor-o-Novo and Castro Verde, Nuno Cera looks for any signs or symbols of activity that intersect with the road. The images capture the time and spirit-time of Place.

“Obviously I was interested in what surrounded the N2, but from time to time it was very taken by the road itself, by its structure.

The relationship with the car, with gas pumps, all the things that have to do with the road’s function.

I think that in the stills you can see more of the territory’s progression.

I was also interested in the marks made from times long past. The Estado Novo is from another time, almost in ruin.

You can see the half-abandoned and empty territories, in addition to the marks made by the bullfights. There is an intensive sense of exploration that can be seen from the road.

I was interested in these little things, like a small chapel, everything that was closely connected to the road.

It was interesting to have a frame to better show the landscape’s context.”
